The Company

METTLER TOLEDO (MT) is a global manufacturer and marketer of precision instruments for laboratory, industrial and food retailing applications. The company has a strong worldwide leadership position.

The Challenge

MT planned a new generation of density meters and refractometers. The concept included two different devices in different variants with a wide range of peripherals. All devices had to use the same software basis, and be easy to maintain. Further the user interface had to be intuitive, familiar, state-of-the-art and had to have multi-language support.

The Solution

MT hired EB as a software partner to strengthen its own software team thereby utilizing EB architecture, design and software project management expertise. MT and EB jointly created a complex software solution that integrated 250 screens in 40 different device combinations on a Windows Embedded CE platform. The solution reused parts, such as the user interface concept and basic software design of a previous project for titration devices and used EB GUIDE Studio as HMI tool.

The Benefit

MT benefitted from EB’s profound knowledge of Windows Embedded CE and their HMI tool EB GUIDE Studio. EB’s competences made it easy to utilize parts of HMI concepts that were already proven in MT’s titration devices. This helped to achieve the same touch and feel for end users and allowed to shorten project development time.
